<<Shuttlecraft>>
<1625, Day 1>

Brice and Joey (NPC) had seen the massive ship launch, although they had no idea what was happening above them. They were completely focused on tracking thier targets, which were approaching an eastern mountain chain. So far they managed to remain completely undetectable. Brice hoped that things stayed that way.

"Looks like they are coming to a stop," Joey remarked. "I'd say they are moving on foot now toward some caverns in the northeastern section."

"Let's see if we can't pick up the captain then, shall we?"

Brice tapped a few icons on his own display, scanning for human biosignatures. So far they were having little luck, although the interference from the rocks could have been partially to blame. Tapping a few more keys, he narrowed his search even more.

"I think I may have something," Brice said. "Very faint and I can't be sure. But they are very close to the caverns."

"Sir, I'm detecting multiple vessels incoming, they look to be fighter like in nature. I think someone noticed our handy work."

"Alright, sheilds up. I want to get one more scan of this area just to be sure...then we can head back to the Malinche."

"Fighters are charging weapons, they'll be here in about a minute."

"Alright, almost finished."

"50 seconds."

"Got it, let's get out of here."

The type 9 shuttle rotated in the air and then blasted away.

"Enemy fighters are still continuing to pursue...looks like they're trying to catch up with us. Intercept in about 45 seconds now."

Energy fire lanced from the trio of chasing fighters, skirting the shields of the shuttlecraft.

"Shields are down to 87%," Joey ordered. "Suggestions?"

"Yeah," Brice smiled. "Hang on."

<<Celtron V, Cave, 1557, Day 1>>

Ensign Stone (NPC) led the way into the next part of the cave. Their eyes adjusted from the darkness of the passageway to the somewhat lighter portion of the cave. This area of the cave was larger than Isabel had anticipated... What they saw seemed to be a kind of underground city. Perhaps not quite city-sized, but the same idea nonetheless.

In front of the group stood a number of dwellings, some larger than others, and remarkably still in
rather good shape. They were distinctly different from those of the So'Kra or To'Ma, leading Isabel to
believe that someone else had lived here before them, or at least unbeknownst to the Celtronians they knew. Judging by the abandoned look of the place, it had been a while since anyone had lived here regularly.

Other than the opening they had passed through to enter the underground city, there appeared to be two others. Keeping still, Isabel's eyes scanned the area quietly, then she looked at her tricorder before turning to the group, "Alright, I'm not picking up any life signs, though that doesn't necessarily mean nothing's here. Keep a tight search line - stay close together, and don't enter either of those other openings til we've completely regrouped in the south corner. Also, remember what Chief Soren said - any strange equipment let him inspect first."

Each building had its own uniqueness about it, some obviously belong to large families and others looked to those belonging to merchants. Spots were trees and grass once stood were replaced by stones and mounds of dirt.

Mason was a student of ancient ruins at the academy, he could imagine his professor having a field day if he had been there to see this. Along an area as the group stayed together, the first officer bent down to find a small fossil like imprint in the ground. One of the ensigns that had accompanied them grab his photo cam to take pictures.

"Captain, this creature what ever it was must have bigger than earth's once ant at least three inches
with some kind of sharp tail." Said Mason having a closer look at the fossil.

Chief Soren knelt on one knee to examine the fossil. Natural history was not the chief's forte, since his thoughts revolved around hard technology, but he examined the fossil with some concern.

"Commander, this creature won't have any great-great-grandchildren that would enjoy the taste
of humans and Denobulans, would it?"

The chief looked again at his tricorder. Currently no significant readings, but perhaps he should go to a wider band.Anyone who plays with live protons couldn't exactly be expected to follow the rules, even if there were any.

As much as the fossil fascinated him, Mason knew he couldn't take it back with them for further study. Lucky for him he had a micro cam to take pictures. Moving a bit up from where Kersare was his foot snagged on something. With so much dirt around it was difficult for him to tell what it was.

Bending down slightly, Ensign Stone(NPC) grabbed the first officer's ankle and moved it back and forth until it was free from the dust. The object that had caught his leg was a medium bulky piece of equipment with flashing lights and language on it that Mason most certainly didn't recognize.

"Soren, what do you make of this?' asked Mason.

The chief knelt, and passed his scanner over the device. "No undue radiation...right."

He picked up the device. Transtator-like circuitry was present throughout the device. There was a
transmit module.

Mason backed off and returned near to Kersare, the device somewhat scared him but he hid it well.

Isabel looked over Mason's shoulder at what he had picked up. She certainly hadn't seen anything quite like it before. Probably it belonged to whoever used to live in these caves...though they still knew very little about them.

"Soren do you think, this once belonged to the people who lived here?" asked Mason.

Soren popped the device into a bag. "Hard to say, sir. I can do a better analysis job on the ship,
Commander Mason. But this is a remote control module...very advanced technology...absolutely not Celtronian. They don't have the circuit elements that went into the box. But I haven't the foggiest clue what it controls...and I'd rather not try it empirically. It is safe to carry with us, I think."

T'serra stood there watching the rest of them examine the fossil wondering what exactly the thing was but never the less more concerned with where they were at the moment. For awhile she just simply looked around the large opening everyone was in till something caught her attention. It wasn't very large or shiny yet something called her attention towards it as though it wanted to be noticed by someone, someone with her abilities. It almost seemed as though it was calling out to her whatever it was.

"Captain. I just noticed something over this way" T'serra pointed out the object which seemed to emanate telepathically it's existance. "Whatever that object is it seems to be able to emanate transmissions only a telepath could hear, as the thing was drawing my attention towards it without having seemed to be noticed by the rest of you."

The object itself seemed relatively harmless to T'serra but then that might not really be the case with whatever the dusty, time worn thing was. At least it wasn't as damp in the large expanse of the underground city as it had been in the rest of the cave, perhaps there was an underground river that flowed somewhere nearby back there and some of the water had seeped into the cave. Still T'serra wasn't as uncomfortable now as she had been before. Again the object called her attention towards it like a beacon which almost made her think it was some kind of distress signal or what not. Perhaps Soren would be able to figure out what it was for.

As Isabel turned to see what T'serra had found, Anthony turned and called out to her.

"Captain? I think you may want to see this," Anthony said from outside a large structure.

Before heading over to where Anthony was, Isabel looked back at the rest of the group and quirked an eyebrow. What could he have found?

As they approached, there didn't seem to be anything particularly striking about the building. It appeared to be a single story high, nothing remarkable on the outside other than the fact that it was larger than the surrounding dwellings. Isabel stopped just shy of where Anthony was standing. "What have you found?"

He nodded inside the dwelling, "There appears to be some kind of advanced technology in here, which is still running somehow. Also there's some of that metal like on the necklace the Celtronian child had."

"How could it still be running? This underground city seems to have been deserted for many, many years...and from what Chief Soren has said, this is not the result of the Celtronians, and is, in fact, more advanced," Isabel replied.

"I'm not sure ma'am. However, there does seem to be a ladder going into a hole in the ground off to the side there. Perhaps the energy source is there?" Anthony shrugged.

Isabel nodded, "It is possible. We won't know til we investigate. Ensign Stone, since you've found this, go ahead and lead us in. Everyone else, keep alert. If some kind of technology is still running, you never know what else could happen. Hopefully there aren't any more reavers in here, though with the presence of the metal, they very well might be. Let's go."

Something about this situation made her feel rather unnerved, though Isabel kept her calm. Her eyes swept back and forth; a hand on her phaser as she and her team entered the dwelling to a soft humming sound.

<<USS Malinche>>
<Bridge, 1630, Day 1>

Jason could barely stay in his seat as the Malinche was slammed to port. Warning beacons flashed across several screens as the slipstream conintued to play havoc with the internal and external systems of the mighty starship.

"We're losing altitude," Grayson reported from the XO's chair. "Falling fast."

"It must be the slip stream," Jason reported. "Its pulling us along the exact course that the other ship took."

"Could hitting the atmosphere bounce us free?" Amanda asked.

"We would be free of the slipstream possibly but end up crash landing....not a way I want to go."

"Nor I myself," Grayson responded.

"Almost have the pulse ready."

"Good work..."

Jason couldn't respond because mere seconds after the words were out of her mouth did the Malinche sustain teh most violent jolt yet. Sparks exploded all around them as the starship hammered into the upper atmosphere of the planet, creating a blazing trail behind her a the slipstream dragged her across.

"Hull integrity is at 68% and dropping," Grayson shouted out over the alams. "If you're going to do something Barrett you better do it quick!"

"Almost ready!" Jason shouted back.

The Malinche shuddered violenty around them, causing more sparks to fly.

"Engaging pulse now!"

A blue white ring of energy leapt from the deflector dish of the Malinche, seemingly flying off into nowhere. However several kilometers above the atmosphere the beam intersected with some unknown portal, creating a massive multi-colored explosion.

"We're free of the slipstream."

"Helm get us out of here!"

The Malinche ceased shuddered as they cleared the atmosphere, Jason silencing the alarms before they drove everyone nuts.

"Pretty good work for a dead man," Grayson smiled.

Karsel`lyn really hated piloting large, fat starships. They moved like garbage scows, and were quite the letdown after piloting fighters.

When the Malinche slammed to port, Lyn could barely keep herself in her seat. Remarkably, she remained upright, and was adjusting thrusters to keep the ship stable, to try and give Barrett more time to do whatever the hell it was he said he'd do to counteract this wonderful subspace anomaly.

Lyn shrieked in terror, memories flashing through her mind's eye... memories of when she commanded the USS Proxima, when the ship was attached to a starbase, where she served as Executive Officer. The ship had been saboutaged, and Lyn herself piloted the ship through reentry, bringing her down to a relatively 'peaceful' crash. She had spent three months in stasis because of that event, and wasn't interested in giving it another go around.
Barrett wrote:"We're free of the slipstream."

Finally, thought an exhausted Karsel`lyn, as she brought the beleageured starship to a higher, and more sedentary, orbit over the planet. Her ribs hurt from getting slammed into the console before her, and she really just wanted to go to her quarters now and sleep..... and dream about her lost gunner/friend/occasional lover, Francine "Francy" Le Duc. At least she could be at peace, and with Francy, in her dreams.

Finally having achieved the intended orbit, Karsel`lyn tiredly slumped over the helm console, resting her forehead on the glass-like surface.

<<Shuttlecraft>>
<1627, Day 1>

"They're gaining on us," Joey (NPC) said. The shuttlecraft took another hard hit, causing sparks to puff from a display or two in the aft compartment.

"I sorta of hoped they would be," Brice smiled.

"You want the enemy to get closer!"

"Yup."

"Are you crazy?"

"Possibly."

"Oh, just so we have that straight."

"Of course."

The trio of fighters were easily closing on the shuttlecraft now, raking her shields with lances of disruptor fire. Brice tapped a few kyes, releasing the excess plasma and making it look like the shuttlecraft was much more damage then they really were. He tapped another sequence, killing the shields.

"They're going to be right on top of us."

"Good," Brice said. "When I say so I want you fire a full phaser burst directly aft...and then prepare to hang on."

"I assume this is some sort of plan?"

"Yeah, I just hope that it works."

"Me too."

The enemy fighters were closing fast now, flying right througn the zigzag vapors of thier leaking warp plasma. Brice watched the display, waiting until they were within 100 meters of the shuttle.

"Now Joey!"

A red lance of energy stabbed from the aft arrays on the shuttlecraft igniting the warp plasma with deadly results. A massive explosion ripped through the air aft of them, causing a fireball to seem to bolsom out of nowhere. One of the fighters was directly in the path and blew apart in into tiny pieces. They other two flew through the explosion, smoke trailing from thier now superheated surfaces.

While that was going on, Brice had thier shields back and pulled the shuttle into a tight loop, coming around behind the fighters. The phaser arrays whinned to life, stabbing at the port craft and punching through the armor in teh weakened superheated sections. The craft wobbled and then fell from the sky.

"Nice shooting," Joey said, pulling the shuttle to starboard so they could go after the remaining shuttle.

"Don't bother pursuing him, he's heading back the direction we came."

"Shouldn't we?"

"No," Brice responded. "Let's get the scans we have back to the Malinche, maybe then we can come up with something."

"Damage report," Amanda asked.

Jason had silenced all the alarms and cut off the remaining lines to the bridge, as to stop the flow of coolant from more then one rupture. His hands danced over the display, checking the various systems of the starship.

"Our shield generators took a pounding, engineering esitmates at least 1 hour before we'll have full shields. Long range sensors are down to about 70% working capacity, all that time in the slipstream must have caused some eroding and scrambling. Emergency forcefields are still holding over the hull breaches."

"Better then I thought," Mark said, from the upper command deck.

"Me too, maybe this way Kersare won't hand me my head on a platter...although thats all thanks to this dead man here."

"Just doing my job," Jason smiled. "Sir, the shuttlecraft is returning from the surface."

"Alright, let's see what they have to offer us gentlemen."

<Cave, 1615, Day 1>

Cheetara and Brewer had been traveled a little ways into the cave when Brewer stopped in his tracks as he noticed a split in the cave.

"Which way do you suggest we go Lieutenant?" he asked

"Neither way", Cheetara spoke back

"Huh? What do you mean?" he asked wondering why she had said that

"From what I'm seeing, all the tracks are going the same way. If Harrison did come through here, she wouldn't keep following the tracks that were already there. Especially if she was running from some THING. Let's go back out and take a closer look at those tracks and see if we can tell of another possibility."

Brewer gave a slight huff. He was curious as to what other possibility there could possibly be. Especially since they had already traveled a ways that far into the cave. But he wasn't about to question the orders of a higher ranked officer, so he turned around and followed Cheetara back out of the cave. They stopped at the beginning of the entrance as they had done before they went into the cave.

"Now what is it that we are going to find?", he said as he looked down at the mess of footprints.

"Patience Brewer", Cheetara answered as she began to examine the tracks again.

For the next few minutes there was complete silence between the two of them. Cheetara kept staring at the footprints trying to come up with something logical to the tracks and the organization of them. After a few more minutes she spoke up again.

"Look here Brewer. I don't think she's in the cave now. We overlooked that set of prints"

"What set?" He asked as he looked where Cheetara was pointing. "Who's set is that?"

"Well for lack of proof, I'm guessing they are Harrison's tracks. She must have only made it look like she came in here while running away. As you can see they are very faint, so she must have eased up on her weight so that they wouldn't be noticed."

"So then I guess you're going to say that we're gonna follow this set now."

"Very good. When did you become a mind reader?" she asked trying to be funny.

Brewer chuckled a little. "Are we starting to rub off on you LIeutenant?"

Cheetara looked at him a little puzzled not understanding his meaning.

"You just tried to make a joke. It's not like you to do that. So we must be rubbing off on you" Brewer said understanding the look on her face.

"Oh Ha Ha", she said back sarcastically. "Common, let's go. We have a crew member to find."

Cheetara began following the tracks immediately not even worrying if Brewer was behind her or not. She knew that he would be following right behind, for she told him to. Over another 15 minutes they finally reached what looked to be the end of the tracks. It looked odd where they had ended though. It looked as if it was a cubby hole cave. The opening was very small with a bunch of rocks in front of it.

"Brewer, help me clear out these rocks", she ordered.

Brewer came over and they began clearing the rocks out of the way of the opening. When it looked like the opening was large enough to enter, Cheetara began yelling into it.

"Ensign Harrison? Are you in here? Hello?"

Cheetara never heard an answer and did some more yelling

"Harrison, it's safe now. No one is around except for Brewer and I. If you are in there, I'm ordering you to come out."

Cheetara heard some stirring finally, and then a faint voice answered back something that Cheetara couldn't hear. After a few moments, Harrison had finally emerged from hiding.

"Glad to see you are ok. So what happened?" Cheetara asked

Gathering what was left of the senior staff, Amanda held a breifing in the lounge. The scans that Thomas had brought back did little to aleviate her instinct that told her things were not as well off as she would have hoped.

"Alright, so we haven't heard from the captain....and we can't get a deep enough scan of the area that our friends disappeared too. Do I have that right?"

"Esstienally, yes," Jason answered. "There's an unusally high level of EM interference surrounding the area that Cheif Thomas and Mr. Summers scanned. It's entirely possible that Captain Kersare and the others might be there."

"So, what are we going to do about that?" Grayson asked. Amanda could tell that he was itching to do something...anything other then sit around and speculate.

"I don't know. But the Klingons will be here soon and I would rather have Captain Kersare in charge when they get here."

"Again, you would be correct."

"ETA to repairs?" Amanda asked.

"Damage control teams should have the hull breaches fixed in an hour or two. Sheilds should come next, we might be able to get the sensors back to 90% or so but we're going to need a whole new set of optical interfaces to get them back to thier maximum working output."

"Anyway that happens in the next hour or so?" Amanda asked.

"Doubtful," Brice spoke up. "We don't have one onboard and we can't replicate one. We'll have to wait until we can get a new one."

"Great," Amanda grumbled. "So, any ideas on how we could get through to the captain? I'm open to pretty much anything here guys. Magic, voodoo, anything."

"I guess we could try a more direct approach," Jason offered.

"And how would we go about doing that?" Mark asked. "Aside from sending another team down there."

"We could use the phasers on the Malinche to drill a shaft, not very far down and then beam in a combination booster pack, a probe fitted with a subspace booster and maybe even a micro shield generator. That might give us enough boost to be able to reach the captain if she and her team are within a few hundred meters of that area."

"I take it there migth be some downsides to this?"

"Other then having to drill a hole in a planet without the expressed written consent of the inhabitants and the fact that it might not last that long. With levels as high as they are we might only get a few minutes out of it."

"Better then nothing," Brice remarked. "And if I were the captain its certainly the direction that I would have headed. Not to mention the fact that someone seems intent on protecting that area."

"He's right about that," Mark said.

"But they could get mad at us if we just go around shooting holes in thier planet," Jason offered.

"Right now I don't see any other way though," Mark said.

"I agree," Amanda nodded. "How long will it take to rig the probe and configure the phasers?"

"Half hour tops," Jason responded.

"Get to work."

With thier current engineering officer down on the planet and out of contact, Brice had gone to engineering to head up the department for the time being. He had played the role of chief engineer before so he knew his way around the busy area. Brice was still hunched over the phaser control monitor making the necessary adjustments to the phasers for thier dirlling.

"Breland (NPC) to Cheif Thomas."

"Go ahead."

"Sheilds are now completely restored as long as Starfleet safety officers don't come aboard we should be good to go. Nolis (NPC) reports that our hull breaches are now all completely sealed."

"Excellent work, Thomas out," he closed the channel with Breland and opened another one with Darkhelm and Grayson on the bridge. "We've managed to get the shields completely operational; hull breaches are repaired and the phaser modifications are complete. We're ready whenever Barrett is."

"Understood, standby."

Brice just hoped it worked.

"Alright, lets get this over with. Commence firing on my mark. 3...2...1...mark."

The phaser array on the Malinche came to life, slicing through the atmosphere and striking the intended target. It burned through granite and rock in a matter of seconds. The beam stated in contact with the surface for only about 20 seconds or so and after that was cut short.

"We've got our tunnel," Jason reported. "I'm beaming in the package now."

"Anything from the planet?" Grayson asked.

"Not so far," Joey (NPC) reported.

"Good, maybe they didn't notice," Amanda commented.

"Alright, let's get to work on resetting the phasers back to thier default mode."

The two engineering mates scurried off after his instruction just as Breland (NPC) came in through one of the side entrances. She smiled at Brice and handed him a PADD.

"Do I even want to know how you managed to get the shields back up to quickly?"

"Took a page from your book," Mikaela smiled. "Besides aren't you the one who was always saying rules are made to be broken."

Brice looked down at the PADD, scrolling through the details about the repaired shield generators. It was something that he had suggested and done on the Payne once after they were hit by Breen privateers. Tying the shield generators together in one circuit and then slaving them to the primary EPS relays on ever deck.

The advantage was that the ship gained an increase in overall shield strength but if enough power surges were to come through the EPS grids the generators could overheat and shut down...or exploded entirely. Which was why it was strongly discouraged in the fleet.

"Officer thinking," Brice smiled. "Although you do know if the EPS system gets out fo alginment by even the slightest bit it will blow all your work to hell."

"And then you can help me pick up the pieces."

"Touche, all that aside, good work. Should give us an total increaes in shield capacity to about 113%."

"Hopefully we won't have to find out how well it will hold."

"I hope so too," Brice said, setting the PADD down. "Now come on, lets get to work on repairing those other systems. I want her as good as new...or close to it when the captain comes back."

<<USS Malinche>>
<Bridge, 1725, Day 1>

Jason looked at his displays, hoping that they might be able to find at least some small sign of life from the away team. So far they hadn't heard anything from Kersare or any other memeber of the away team. Something did catch his eye though.

"Sir, I'm detecting faint humanoid signs within about 500 meters of the probes location."

"Our people?" Amanda asked.

"Hard to say at this range," Jason responded, his hands dancing across his displays. "All I can pick up at the moment are very faint bio-signs."

"But you cant' tell if they are human?"

"No sir, not without or sensors pulling at 100%...even that might not be enough."

"What about scanning intense pockets of photonic particles?"

"Wouldn't do us any good at this range either sir...our sensors are simply not in good enough shape."

"Is there anyway to remedy that?"

"Sure, find us a starbase and some spare parts."

"Oh har har Lt."

"Just stating what you asked sir."

"Is there anyway to increase sensor resolution so we can find out if those are our people down there."

"Sure, possibly....wait a minute I guess we could use a shuttlecraft."

"Where are you going with this Lt?" Amanda asked. She crossed her arms over her chest making it clear that she didn't want to waste time.

"Its easy...we can uplink the shuttles sensors to our own, it should be enough to give us a 30% boost in efficiency."

"Why do I sense a but?"

"Well, its generally not done because tying up that much of the shuttles computer means that it can't keep track of all the other systems, in one case the shuttle's primary fusion reactor overloaded and destroyed the craft."

"Aw, I knew there was a catch...would this allow us to see them though, I mean figure out whats down there."

"It should."

"Alright, then let's do it. Commander Darkhelm to Chief Thomas."

"Go ahead sir."

"I need you to high tail it back to the shuttlebay and wait for Summers (NPC), you're going to be taking a little drive agian."

"Aye sir, on my way."

<<Celtron V, Underground City, 1621, Day 1>>

Isabel followed Anthony (NPC) into the building. A soft blue light bathed the room, coming from what seemed to be a wall of computer screens on the far wall. As the security officer had mentioned, off to the left a good size hole could be seen with part of a ladder sticking out of it. It, along with several pieces of furniture, seemed to be fashioned out of the same metal as the reavers.

Slowly the group approached the view screens, seeing an enormous console glowing. There seemed to be some labelling as to the functions of the controls, but whatever language it was, Isabel didn't recognize it. Logically, it belonged to whoever had created this system and lived here. If they could figure it out, they might be able to stop the reavers, and hopefully shed some light on some of their other finds. With any luck, they might even discover what exactly was going
on on Celtron V.

Looking over at Ryan (NPC), who was at the back of the group, Isabel spoke, "Ensign Morris, I'd like you to keep an eye on that hole over there. I don't want any surprises sneaking up on us." Seeing him nod and move over to the hole, she turned to Anthony, "Ensign Stone, watch the door if you would. As for the rest of us, let's see what we can find out."

They neared the console and looked at the numerous controls and buttons. Isabel sighed inwardly...she'd been an engineering officer, but usually she knew what controlled what. Now there was a new system with controls she didn't recognize. A few she could guess at, but they were only guesses. Isabel tapped at a red colored oval on the console, pausing as she heard something beep then a screen appeared with what seemed to be several options. "Anyone have suggestions on where to start?" Now Mason was not a translation expert but he had a notion and moved over to Kersare.

"Captain, it might be possible to program our tri-corders to extrapolate this language or at least some of it anyway. It's a real shame they didn't leave any manuals behind," said Mason smiling.

Isabel considered Mason's proposal, "That just might work. Though would only one tricorder be able to handle it, or would we need to devise something?"

"Soren, I know one tri-corder might not cut it but could we somehow link all of our units together since we do not have a data translation computer with us?" asked Mason.

Chief Soren nodded without hesitation. "Yes, sir, we can certainly daisy-chain tricorders by synchronizing communication bandwidth. The trade-off is that the tricorders will run a bit more slowly, say...about 15%. Your call, Commander."

A small terminal just near Mason lit up with a humming sound like that of an engine core on a starship but not as loud. It projected an image of floating icon that neither he or Kersare had seen before.

"It looks like andorian with a bit of rician mixed in." said Mason.

He moved about trying to see if he could find that symbol on anything else in the room.

"Captain, here is that same symbol here on this wall covered in sand and over here on this stand." Stated Mason drawing Kersare to where he was.

Walking over to where Mason was looking at the symbols, Isabel's eyes looked over them carefully, trying to ascertain what their purpose was. "Does anyone have any thoughts on these?"

"Not beyond the obvious, ma'am" responded Chief Soren. "I'd guess that the symbol is their equivalent of the Federation flag...an identity tool."

Isabel nodded, it made sense. Walking over to Anthony and then Ryan, Isabel got their tricorders and took them back to Soren, Mason, and T'serra. "I'll keep mine and do continuous scans of the area for any anomalies that may show up or any company we might get. Let's get these tricorders linked together so we can try to translate some of this information and find out some more about the people who lived here."

It seemed that the away mission was getting all the more interesting now, and still T'serra felt that something wasn't right. What she felt might very well be echoes from the past still looming around or perhaps a premonition of some future event, even so she kept this to herself figuring it might just be nothing at all but the effect of being in a damp and gloomy environment. The beacon which T'serra had noticed still rang out it's call, yet the more she listened to it the more she thought of it as music instead of a distress signal like she had thought earlier. Perhaps it was music she heard and indeed it seemed that it was, T'serra just wished that everyone else could hear it. The tones which it made were beautiful, which made her think who ever had programmed the device must have been a talented musician. T'serra wanted to look at the device but knew better then to do that before Soren had a chance to look it over. Finally she snapped out of it and handed her Tri-corder to Mason.

What Isabel now had in mind were a few different options regarding the reavers... Either they were remnants of this lost civilization, apparently still able to provide power to their systems, or the To'Ma had created them. Due to their more complex nature, and some of the similarities to the underground city, Isabel was more inclined to believe the former rather than the latter. Not that the To'Ma couldn't be using them to their own purpose had they learned to control them though... For that matter, there could still be some of that lost civilization here...or someone else, someone more dangerous than they had yet imagined. Only time and research would tell, so the faster they worked, the better.

"Captain?" T'serra called out. "I thought that you should know that beacon I had noticed earlier is still sending out emanations but I don't think that it is actually a beacon anymore, now it seems more like some kind of musicial instrument." T'serra said shrugging now. "Perhaps it might be a good idea to check that device out once that language has been translated."

Isabel nodded, "We may look into it further later on, but our first priorities are to find out about this power source, this civilization, and the reavers."

Mason reached out for the tricorder handing to Soren. It was slow work with their mini micro processors the tricorders could only handle a few bits of translation at a time. Finally at long last the lead unit began to chirp aloud.

"Captain, the translation matrix is now ready. I am setting up a remote comm link to the Malinche's computer hopefully with the extra boost the tricorders can process the data much more quickly." Said Mason helping Soren with the portable data module.

As soon as the connection was established, a strange sound was piped into the air, it was something surely mason had never heard before everyone looked to the other in confusion as Soren turned down the volume.

"Soren, what was that?" asked Mason.

"Could it be that the sound has some odd connection to deciphering this symbol and these databases. I have seen some species use this method in keeping files stored and even during battle times." Said Mason having the feeling to look behind him at the terminal he previously found.

The unit had changed color and was translated in English by the tricorders, the image shown was a representation of what looked to be a fairly large core of some type. Pretty soon every monitor in the room lit up with different data screens. One in particular had an orange glow which drew the first officer to it.

Out of being curious and taking a risk of being hurt himself, he pushed it revealing a much large screen with a medium size control console.

"Ensign Navdante, can you determine if the music you heard is in anyway related to any of this?" asked Mason.

"Sir the music seems to have changed, though it sounds similar to what had been playing before. Perhaps you changed what I think used to be called a track? On a CD? If my Earth history serves me right though I am not really sure, but the music has definantly changed. This could be how the people who lived here comunicated, then again it could just be something else. It might be a good idea to record what we can of it in case it is a language." T'serra shrugged and went to look at the computer terminal that Mason had interacted with.

"Try pressing on the terminal again here." T'serra said pointing to a small button. "If I am correct the music should change again or then again it might not do anything." This interested T'serra and she wondered what it might do now, hoping that whatever it did would explain exactly what the device that seemed to be playing music actually is.

"Captain you should have a look at this." Stated Mason backing off to make room for Kersare and the others to see what he had found.

Isabel moved over to the viewscreens to get a closer look at what Mason had found. It seemed to be a map of some sort, showing 2 different levels, presumably of the underground city. The map was interactive - touching the screen zoomed in on the area you'd touched. Seeing something underneath what Isabel assumed was the building they were currently in, she touched the screen. The image increased in size, displaying an underground structure with what looked to be the power source. She turned to the others, "I think this is what we're looking for, the power source."

Seeing the others nod, Isabel was about to suggest they go and take a look when something else caught her eye. A schematic, and information regarding the reavers. Scanning the information with quickly, Isabel learned that they were, in fact, controlled by the power source. "From what I'm reading here, we could cut off the power supply to the reavers by altering the power flow to them. Let's go down and take a look."
