Starfleet Apartment Complex/ DS7
The alert klaxon woke Aaron from his sleep. A check of the emergency message on the computer console confirmed his suspicions; the Bix were invading. For reasons Aaron did not understand, the Bix had set their sites on DS7 and the planet that housed the Starfleet installation.
Wasting little time, Aaron pulled on a uniform and grabbed his phaser before heading for the garage for his hover-cycle.
First stop was the science complex to assist with last minute securing of valuable artifacts. Several had been moved the previous day; however certain items were best left alone unless the situation absolutely warranted their relocation. Approaching the complex, Aaron slowed in preparation for the extra security measures that had been set in place the day before in preparation for the inevitable invasion. Even with the extra security, he was inside the building less than five minutes after leaving the apartments.
The small number of personnel on night shift were already at work using anti-grav sleds to move the artifacts to the basement. A throwback to the pre-Starfleet days, the entrance to the basement was originally sealed with a tritanium doors 15 cm thick. The underground complex hadn't been used in over 4 decades when Starfleet moved in but the door was still in good condition. Regardless, the Starfleet engineers installed a forcefield emitter to provide more high-tech protection. It was not known if the building would be a target, but better to have taken the precautions and not need them than not take them and wish you had.

"Lieutenant Steele, thank you for joining us. Hopefully we won't be needing your services. How current is your training? "
"I recertified as a field medic a little over a year ago. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective, I haven't needed to use it since."
Aaron trained as a field medic during the Dominion War in order to be more useful. As a scientist there wasn't much need for his skills once combat began, so he trained with the Thunderbolt's CMO in order to provide medical assistance when needed. After the war he kept his certification up to date. Other than a few away missions gone slightly awry he hadn't need for the skills.
Dr. Travis handed Aaron a PADD and medical tricorder.
"Medical science is always changing but I can't think of any major recent advances so you should be fine. Unfortunately we don't know much about Bixx weaponary which complicates specific planning. I've heard rumors they are related to the Borg, if that's true we may see personnel with injuries related to assimilation. At this point we've done all we can to prepare."

Word came over the comm system that the Bixx had landed ground troops; the invasion had officially begun. The staff at the medical outpost found themselves listening to the reports coming in from the front lines. Less than an hour after the fighting started, the first casualties started coming in.
17:40 hrs Day 3
=/\= Captain Fitz to residents of DS7, the remaining Bixx have left the Allura System. Victory is ours! =/\=
"Victory may be ours, but we've still got a lot of work to do before we return to normal operating procedures."
Aaron looked around at the numerous wounded.
"You got that right Chief."
