Mason left the brisk and brief nature of the program was enough to enlighten his mind and his way on how to make himself more open and available to the crew. Just a few moments later he arrived on the bridge and took his seat.

?Well Mason, there is something I haven?t seen in awhile. (Leaning closer to avoid anyone else hearing her. Are you alright??

<<Intelligence Office, 0905, day 20>>

Mark tried not to breath too deeply, because his ribs were really hurting. He had said to himself he would endure all the pain, since he had challenged P'ayanna, but, he had confess now, that he had been stupid.

He had spent at least a couple hours reading Intelligence reports about the Klingon fleet. Mark knew he would pinpoint which ships were not where they were supposed to be. The Klingon High Council was dealing with some commander looking for glory, which was nothing new, but... Well, was quite annoying. This rogue Klingon could attack the Malinche and that was more than annoying.

He sighed and felt a sharp pain in his side. Damn ribs.

He heard someone chuckle and raised his eyes to see his friend Mike Derrin (NPC) laughing of him.

"What?", asked Mark, exasperated. "You already laughed of my appearence and then said "You're a lucky bastard", then, laughed more about me getting drunk with the same person that would kill me. What now?"

"I never told you who took you to your quarters, did I?", said Mike, smirking.

"I assumed that I walked there all by myself", stated Mark, starting to get upset with his friend. Mike could be a pain when he wanted.

"No... Oh, you're going to love this", said Mike, "Ensign Harrison took you to your quarters".

Mark face fell. Harrison?

Mike laughed at Mark's face. "I knew it! You're attracted to her!"

"What?", was Mark's reply. "You're nuts, Mike. Shut up."

Mike controlled himself and nodded. "Of course, I'm nuts, sir", stated him ironic.

"You have work to do, Mike. Stop bothering me with your ravings". Mark's voice was hard enough to make Mike blink and nod silently.

Mark looked at padd he was reading and then pretended he was reading. But, in truth, he was thinking about Ensign Harrison. Mike was not wrong when he said Mark had a thing for her. But, he had being rude to her, during his interview. It was part of his duty. Still... He couldn't stop thinking he could have been more educated. "Ah, no matter. She has no emotions. Why she would even think about something like that coming from me?", thought him, burying the issue.

OFF: tag crew.

<<Bridge, 0910, Day 20>>

Isabel looked over at Mason, who had just come onto the bridge and nodded. ?Well Mason, there is something I haven?t seen in awhile. (Leaning closer to avoid anyone else hearing her) Are you alright??

?Im fine, Captain let?s just say a new door has opened up and gave me a good kick in the rear so to speak. What did I miss??

"Not t-," Isabel began, stopping suddenly as she heard the transmission from Celtron V.

The entire bridge became silent, the crew looking from one to another worriedly. Finally, their eyes rested on the Captain. For her part, Isabel was still quiet, her mind racing as she tried to put things together. First a communication between two ships, now sudden news of the To'Ma kidnapping Trelin(NPC) who was crucial to the peace talks. Not only that, but slightly more disturbing was the knowledge that someone was helping the To'Ma. Not good news.

Standing up, Isabel looked at the crew. "Alright, Ensign Kai, try getting a message through to Celtron V so we can get more information on what happened. Lieutenant Barrett, I want you to see if you can pinpoint which ships that communiqu? passed between so we can determine whether it has a connection to the kidnapping of Councillor Trelin."

The bridge crew seemed to relax a little, now that they were being given direction and order was being put to the chaos. Walking over to the flight control console, Isabel said, "Ensign Sychorski(NPC), increase speed to maximum warp, we need to get to Celtron V as soon as possible."

"Aye Captain," Joshua responded, tapping at the console.

Tapping her comm badge, Isabel said, "Kersare to Thundera."

"Go ahead Captain," came Cheetara's reply.

"I want you to make sure all tactical situations are prepared for. There are quite a few ships in the vicinity of Celtron V, and also some fighting has already broken out - we need to be prepared. Also, have Cadet P'ayanna assemble an away team - Councillor Trelin has been taken hostage. I'll be sure any relevant information that is found is sent to you or P'ayanna as soon as we have it. Kersare out."

Mason walked over to her, "I take it we're going to perform hostage extraction then?"

"Absolutely," she said. Isabel looked at her Executive Officer. "Could you please go and find Navdante and Grayson? See what Navdante thinks about this new situation with the kidnapping, and see what Grayson can find out about who is helping the To'Ma."

"Okay," he said, nodding before he turned to leave the bridge.

As Isabel turned to leave the bridge as well, she looked over at Jason. "Lieutenant you have the bridge. Inform me immediately of any changes or developments." Seeing him nod, she continued on her way to Sickbay.

<<Sickbay, 0917>>

Isabel wandered into sickbay, finding Amanda in her office. She knocked, then entered as she saw the medical officer nod. "Good morning doctor."

"I'm not sure exactly how good it is, but good morning," Amanda replied, setting down a PADD.

Isabel nodded, "I can't stay long, as I need to go check on what the Science department has come up with, but I wanted to mention a few things. First off, the Celtronian High Council member has been kidnapped. I'm not sure if he's injured or not, but from the sounds of things during the message, there are injured people on the planet. You and your staff may be needed to assist with that. Also, Cadet P'ayanna is in charge of the away team going to retrieve Trelin... I'm not sure how the two of you get along, but with your experience, it may be a good idea for you to go with the team. In any event, I'd suggest checking with P'ayanna." She wasn't sure how open either of them would be to the idea, but it was worth a shot at least. If nothing else, Amanda could always be standing by, ready to treat Trelin on the planet. "Also, I heard there was some kind of altercation between Mr. Grayson and P'ayanna...care to fill me in at all on the situation, and their conditions?"

OFF: Tag Darkhelm, rest of crew. That should give pretty much everyone something to do... Let me know if you have any questions. :)

"Grayson suffered some minor injuries only...I treated him and released him to his quarters."

"What happened?"

"Doctor Patient confidenality captain, don't misunderstand me I don't want to be rude but its a standard I try and uphold."

(Tag Kersare)

<Sickbay, 1030>

Amanda stood up as the Klingon officer entered sickbay. She had an idea that she wasn't exactly going to like having Amanda tag along...but orders were orders.

P'ayanna wasn't sure why she'd been summoned to sickbay, though she thought she had an idea. Their simpering petaQ of a doctor was probably going to whine to her about following through with the challenge from Grayson. Since the woman was of senior rank, P'ayanna had no choice but to listen, which galled her.

"Relax before you sprang something," Amanda said, looking at P'ayanna. "Don't worry I wouldn't presume to lecture you on what you and Grayson did, I've know enough Klingons to know thats futile."

P'ayanna simply nodded. "Then, there is a purpose behind your summons?"

"Apparently, I'm supposed to go with you on the away team," Amanda said standing. "I know you don't like me Cadet and you don't have to...to be honest you're not the first Klingon that I met that didn't like me...well not at first. T'Kurgh had to nearly beat me unconcious before he decided that I was worthy enough to perform surgery on him."

"mreh," P'ayanna replied, noncommittally. She didn't have to like the people in her party, so long as all were focused on mission accomplishment. "All that matters is success," P'ayanna said.

"Spoken like a true warrior, you won't have to worry about my safety cadet, I was a Marine before becoming a doctor....just out of professional curosity, why don't you like me?"

"Grayson carried himself with honor, and yet you speak of his actions like a cowardly verengan petaQ. You should have reveled in his glory but, instead, fretted like some chatty be'Hom."

Amanda arched an eyebrow. "Grayson acted stupidly, he went up against a foe that he had no chance of beating. As for his honor, don't get me wrong I still consider Grayson a very honorable man, his actions in that case were inhonorable. And if that is the only reason that you dislike me cadet then I suggest you open that thick Klingon skull of yours and realize that not all honor comes from battle."

P'ayanna's lip curled as the woman's words confirmed P'ayanna's assessment of her. Only a DoghwI' thought as she did, only to be proven wrong when the warriors came to fight.

Amanda waited for a reaction from their security chief although it was clear that she wasn't going to be goaded into saying anymore.

"Thats all cadet."

"Aye, Commander," she replied, wondering how she would be able to simultaneously accomplish the mission while protecting their weakling doctor.

Amanda watched her go, noting that Pa'yanna was acting like most Klingons that she knew. She looked back down at her terminal to see another Klingon face looking up at her.

"Ah, she is young...she does not yet know you as the rest of our house does...give her time and you will prove your honor to her."

"And if I don't?" Amanda asked, eyeing the Klingon.

The Klingon laughed a deep throating laugh. "You will my friend, you will."

As soon as Kersare departed, Barrett sent his team to work. Both Joey (NPC), Tolara (NPC), and Zero (NPC) had come up to the bridge to lend a hand. He wasn't overly optomestic about finding out which ships the communication had passed through...there were almost a hundred in orbit.

"Joey, start with the lower band widith's."

"Already on it," Joey responded, his hands flying over his station.

"Comment: If you were to intergrate the lateral array it would increase you efficieny but close to 35.5%."

"Thanks," Jason grunted. "But at the moment I don't want to go around re-allocating resources that we may need in a moments notice. Joey, you have anything yet?"

"Not yet," Joey responded. "There are 84 ships in orbit total, that communication could have passed through all of them or none of them."

That gave Jason an idea, he turned to their communications officer.

"Ensign Kai, do we have the access codes for the Celtron subspace network?"

"Yes sir, we were given them the moment we entered radio range.":

Jason ushered Joey out of his seat as he accessed the codes for the subspace radio relays, his hands danced over the controls.

"Observation: Ah, a most creative idea how did you come to the conclusion that this would be successful?"

"I didn't," Jason said, not looking up from his work. "Ensign Kai, I need you to pull the ID tag of that grabbled message and send it to my workstation."

"Begging your pardon sir, but what are you doing?"

"Simple, every time a ship or station receives a radio signal it gets an imprint on it. That imprint..."

"Would stick with the message," Kai said, finishing his thought.

"By scanning through all the various siganls we should be able to pinpoint which ships received the signal and who didn't. It will take some time though, we've got to sort through all the passive and active subspace radio scans."

"I better go put on some coffee...we'll be burning the midnight oil on this one."

"Query: How would burning a flammable..."

"Shut up Zero," Jason said. "Alright, Joey, Tolara take the auxillary stations, let's see what we can find."

Mark heard someone entered in the room and raised his eyes. Lt. Commander Hunt walked towards his desk.

"You look like hell, Lt.", was the first thing he said. He didn't look particualry mad, but he wasn't happy either.

"Well, Thank you, sir. I guess", replied Mark, smiling. He actually didn't have to explain himself to Hunt, because he was pretty sure the man already knew everything. "Can I help you with something?"

"Actually, yes. It appears that the To'Ma kidnnaped Garshon Trelin and they had help from a third party", answered Hunt.

"Garshon Trelin is from So'Kra high Council, isn't he?", said Mike Derrin (NPC) from his desk.

Mark nodded silently. "So, you want to know who's helping the To'Ma", said him finally.

Hunt nodded. "Yes. And we need to know fast. We need to know what we'll be facing when we arrive there".

"I'll get on that right way, sir. I have ways to find out. I'm actually waiting some info that will help us", said Mark.

"Good. I'll inform the captain". With that Hunt left the room.

Mark looked at Mike that smiled."You're expecting info from HONORED ONE?"

"Of course, Mike", replied Mark. "The old warrior never let me down"

Mark console blinked. "Talk about timing", said him smiling.

"A message from him? Odd coincidence", added Mike.

"There's no coincidence in the Intelligence bussiness, Mike. You should know better", answered Mark, reading the message."Hmm... We have a name to the Klingons following us."

"Which is...?"

"House of Raktor", said Mark throwing the padd to Mike."I don't know anything about them."

"Me neither", said Mike, scratching his head. "Do you think they're involved in the Kidnnaping?"

"Maybe, but, we don't know for sure. About our info about the House, I think I know someone that could help us."

"You're joking. Are you...?"

"Yeah, I'm going to ask cadet P'ayanna. She must know anything about the House of Raktor", said Mark getting of his chair and walking towards the door. He walked slowly, limping. The pain was really bothering him, but he had promised himself to endure the pain. It was his way of showing he had honor. It was also stupid, but, then again, Mark would never admit that.

"See you later, Mike."

"Try not offend her this time, Mark. I don't think you can survive another round with her", said Mike, laughing.

Mark glanced sternly to Mike. "Don't worry, I think Cadet P'ayanna and me have found some middle ground." Mark then open a smile. "I'll try to keep my limbs intacts this time".

<Bridge, Day 20, 0930>

Except for a brief trip to sickbay, P'ayanna had spent her morning on the bridge. While she was going to be away from the ship and, in all likelihood, absent during combat operations, she still owed it to the Captain to be prepared to fight. Part of her envied Lieutenant Thundera the opportunity she would have to destroy the ship's enemies in glorious battle, but there was nothing for it. Her task had been laid out for her and she would carry it out.

Frowning, she took a few moments to see if there had been any progress in locating the abducted man, otherwise known as Garshon Trelin of the Celtronian High Council. Grayson was supposedly working on that, among other things, but P'ayanna knew that intelligence output could only be as good as the information going into it. He would continue to search for leads, no doubt, but it would be no easy task. To scanners, all Celtronians looked alike.

After a few seconds of thought, she found herself actually hoping that they would have to search. There was much glory in fighting one's way through many enemies in search of an enemy. That was true, even when P'ayanna felt nothing but contempt for the petaQ who had allowed himself to be captured by the enemy.

Movement to her left caught her attention, so she turned her head. Grayson was approaching to speak to her, hopefully to tell her that he had found something. "nuqneH," she greeted him in her native language. "Have you found this Trelin yIntagh?"

Mark tried his best not to show his discomfort as he walked in the Bridge. Some of the crew glanced at him. Some of them were not exactly thrilled by Grayson's actions, but, then again, he had acted like a Starfleet Officer. But, then, again, he was far from being the usual Officer.

He saw P'ayanna working in a console in Tactical and approched her.

She turned her head and stared at Mark. "nuqneH," she greeted him in her native language. "Have you found this Trelin yIntagh?"

"Not exactly, P'ayanna", replied Mark limping to her side. "But, I found something that require your knowledge on the Klingon society. The Klingon ship following us is from the House of Raktor. I'm pretty sure there are of them around. So, what can you tell me about this House?"

More imformation will be sent as we get it. Also, make sure you take the good doctor. Amanda's views and medical expertise will be essential. Cheetara out"

She closed the channel and finished going over her tactical report and sent it to the captain stating:

All tactical systems are running at top efficiency. My tactical officers have been training and are ready for what ever may happen. I am going to do one more simulation with them before we arrive.

After sending the small report she decided that there's no time like the present to get the training out of the way.

P'ayanna frowned, as the notification came late and told her nothing that she did not already know. She'd been summoned to talk to the doctor, for instance, and already knew about the rescue mission. "Understood," she replied, figuring she couldn't fault her immediate superior for making sure that the word was out.

As the comm channel closed, she looked at Grayson with a snarl on her lips. "That explains much." At his expression, she could see that he wanted more information. "Did I not challenge them, only to be ignored? You are not Klingon, yet show more honor than they."

He nodded. "Something tells me this House is involved in more than we know. They could be involved in the kidnapping for all we know."

"Then I shall enjoy killing them," P'ayanna told him. "juH raQ'tor lost its seat on the Klingon High Council for good reason."

"That, I am aware of, although the specifics have been hidden."

P'ayanna snorted with rage. "There are some who think any battle, including against the defenseless, brings honor and glory. Gowron looked the other way; Martok did not. Stripped of title and much of their lands, they would not let honor stand in the way of restoring their power."

<Engineering, Day 20, 0945>

Two had heard about the Klingon ship and the kidnapping. She suspected that the Klingons would be fighting without following the Klingon rules of combat: Face your opponent and fight a fair fight. Even if they were going to fight an honorable fight, the Mali had to be ready for it.

"Get those photon torps ready to be used," Two said without any different tone and volume to her normally monotone voice. "You two, double and triple check the shield harmonics. I want people stationed around the clock at the most vulnerable ship areas. When something ruptures, I want it fixed."

One engineer dared to speak what others were thinking. "But chief, we do not know when they are going to attack."

"True," she told them, "But we do not want to be caught with our hands in our pockets. Even if we can get everything set up, that is ten steps that they will not be expecting from us."

She dismissed them. She headed to her office, knowing that eventually, she would have to check the work. But for now, she needed to have some peace.

She reflected on what she had done that morning. Why had she voluntarily carried Grayson home? If she knew him, he would find out that she was the one who did it. He was an intel officer. What was she going to say when he questions her about it? She did not lie. She would not tell him something that wasn't true.

She had to turn her attention back to her work. She had so much to do to prepare for an attack.

"Spitting hellfire!"

The building had been reduced almost to a smoking skeleton, wounded were still being tended to and rushed out of harm's way, the whole situation had been reduced to a general mess of turmoil, and Tekel Orsad, bleeding freely from the nose, was coming to the conclusion that it was going to be one of those days.

Absent-mindedly wiping the blood from his upper lip, Tekel sighed and tried to gather his thoughts. At least the intruders had finally been driven back- either that or just become bored...

"Were we able to recover Trelin (NPC)?" he quietly asked of his comrade Zura (NPC).

She shook her head. "He disappeared with the first wave. We're in trouble, Tekel; Starfleet'll probably want our necks, for one thing."

Orsad didn't particularly want to think about the Federation's reaction to this particular blunder. "Maybe, but how riled must they be at the Klingons? What the hell were they thinking, abducting the chief council member?"

"We're not dealing with the Klingons in general. Chances are it's a dissenting faction of some sort."

"Great, another faction. Look Venari, gather up the rest of our team and start assessing the damage. And give the medics a hand if they need it."

"Yes sir."

"And send Brek (NPC) over here."

These instructions given, Tekel marched off to consult with Senswin Allum (NPC), one of the council aids, who was currently hovering somewhat purposelessly.

"How's everyone holding up?"

"As well as can be expected," Allum sniffed, his hand waving vaguely in front of his mouth.

"You helped with coordinating security, didn't you? Any idea how this happened?"

"They overpowered us, Orsad. We weren't prepared for such force."

"Weren't prepared," Tekel muttered gruffly. "Dammit, I should've taken more precautions."

"You needn't place blame on yourself," Allum offered.

"Thank you."

"After all, there's a whole team of you who were responsible."

"Thank you," Tekel repeated with somewhat more emphasis. He was saved further aggravation when Brek, a Napean working with them, tapped him on the shoulder.

"You wanted to see me, Orsad?"

"We need to track the Klingons who were helping the To'Ma. Do you know what group they belong to?"

"I'd love to scan the viscinity for their ship and find out, sir, but our scanners were taken out along with the comm system."

Tekel breathed heavily down through his nose, inadvertantly causing more blood to dribble forth. "I guess we'll be waiting here like lemons until Starfleet beams down." Catching sight of Zura, he jogged over to her, Brek on his tail. "Venari, grab a friend and see what headway you can make with repairing our stations, would you? Comm and scanners most urgently."

"I'll give it a shot, boss," was the less-than-hopeful response.

"If we get communications back," Brek thought aloud, "Maybe we could go ahead and contact the To'Ma, see if we can reason with them."

Tekel shook his head slowly. "We're coordinating efforts with Starfleet. We wait for them." Dabbing at his nose with the back of his hand, he went on, "Put up against the Klingons, I'd much rather have the Federation's influence in negotiations. Besides, they should arrive soon."
